We have deployed the rutheless cunning of the civil service in the form of Andrew 'Yoo-Hoo sailor' Wright, the precision time keeping and determination of Network Rail engineer David 'Popeye' Lawrance and whippet like hill cimbing abilities of WS Atkins business development manager Jeremy 'Olive' Stain. Skipper Richard 'Bligh' Stain and Co-Skipper Huw 'Are we nearly there yet?' Williams of Testconsult Limited in Warrington are still trying to figure out if their combined expertise in concrete testing will provide a crucial advantage - there is still time.....

Richard Stain - Skipper and runner59 years old, engineer and director for Testconsult Ltd, semi retired and has spent the last 6 years part time building Laura in his garden in Mobberley. Yachtmaster Ocean ticket, sailed the Atlantic in the ARC in 1994 in his Sadler 29. Came last (but enjoyed it!!) No racing experience but cruised a bit on South Coast and Irish Sea . Keen mountaineer and sub aqua diver in a previous life. Trying to keep the years at bay, trying to keep fit, trying to stop from starting smoking again etc etc. Intending to climb one of the peaks on this race. |

Huw Williams - Co-Skipper and runner???45 years old, – Civil Engineer with patchy experience of sailing boats from 12ft dinghies to 40ft yachts, from inshore lakes to cross channel trips. Allegedly has RYA yachtmaster ticket and relies heavily on other people with boats to add to the log. Off the water, spends leisure time shooting clay discs and playing squash. Has threatened to 'do a peak' if team is desperate or perhaps it was 'do a runner'. Its good to have a backup plan. |

Andrew Wright - Crew and runner59 years old, Civil Servant. Regular sub 1hr 45min half marathon runner, cycles to work each day and for pleasure Lands End to John O' Groats, across the Pyrenees , Alps etc, likes a bit of pain!! Limited sailing experience but has crewed on cross Channel and Irish Sea trips. Good cook. Our secret weapon on the hill climbs. |

Jeremy Stain - Crew and runner29 years old, Business Consultant for Atkins in Epsom. No adventure racing experience but enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing , and running. Not a bad skier but finds it difficult to keep up with his old man! Ha ha. Lots of sailing experience and did some rowing at Durham University so could well be useful in the Swellies. |

Dave Lawrance - Crew and runner30 years old, Projects Engineer/Manager for Network Rail. Not much sailing experience but says he can swim! Keen mountaineer, skier, rock & ice climber, depending on the season. Marathon running fiancé trying to beat him into shape. Getting married and having a 30th birthday within a month of the race, so this is a necessary antidote to the lurking mid life crisis ! |
